This book “Surface Mining: Methods, Technologies and Systems “in two volumes has been prepared by the world famous experts on different aspects of surface mining. Twenty three large chapters are divided into five divisions namely: geomechanics, drilling and blasting, safety, equipment and excavation, and systems. The book provides up-to-date account of the developments that have been taking place in the arena of methods, technologies and systems. Most of the chapters are so designed that the book can be used by the practioners as well as the learner’s ion understanding the concepts and methodologies. The two volume set is designed as a reference-cum-companion book that will be useful both as occasional reference as well as a daily companion.

About the Editors :

Jayanta Bhattacharya Fellow, Indian National Academy of Engineering is a Professor of Mining Engineering at the Department of Mining Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He is also currently the Head of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering in the same institute. Holger Liebewirth is Director of Institute of Mineral Processing Machines, Professor at Technical University Bergakdmie Freiberg. In his previous positions he was CEO Asia at Tenova Takraf, Executive Vice President at TAKRAF GmbH, Vice President Sales at BEUMER GmbH Co. KG. Bern Klein is the Professor and Head of UBC Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering, Vancouver, Canada. He was Director, MineSense from 2009-13.
